In Sanskrit language ‘ardha‘ means ‘half‘, ‘matsya‘ means ‘fish‘, ‘indra‘ means ‘king‘ and ‘asana‘ means ‘pose or posture‘. So it is called as Ardha Matsyendrasana. Basically it is stretching of entire spinal cord. Effective in strengthening the spine and bringing flexibility.
